The free home visit, and why we will sometimes tell you that you do not need us yet

The free home visit is the start of everything we do. A care manager comes to the house, looks at the real situation, and tells you what they think. Sometimes what they think is that you do not need us yet.

What happens

About an hour. The stairs, the bathroom, the medication, the fridge, what your parent will actually accept. A conversation with your parent, not just with you. Then a written plan: what care, on which days, by whom, at what cost, with public funding applied first if you qualify.

What you might hear

  • That the first step is an 811 call and an Alberta assessment, and we will help with that, whether or not you ever become a client.
  • That a few changes to the house and a weekly check-in are enough for now.
  • That the situation is more serious than you thought and care should start this week.

There is nothing to sign

No assessment fee, no obligation. If the plan makes sense, you meet your caregiver before care starts. If it does not, you have a written second opinion to take elsewhere. Either way you leave with a real number.
